Karen Ross,PT, DPT
Attended Texas Woman's University obtaining a BS in Psychology (1976) and BS in Physical Therapy (1978). Graduated Who's Who among students in American Universities & Colleges. Graduated January 2006 with Doctor of Physical Therapy from Boston University.
Almost 30 years experience in orthopedic physical therapy, private practice. Owner of Ross Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, LLP since 1983. Worked extensively with sports medicine.
Received Small Business of the Year Awards from Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce in 1990 as well as from the Small Business Administration in 1991. Joint ventured with faith-based health care system from 1994 to 2005 to developed therapy services across the continuum of care for 6 hospitals, 9 outpatient clinics, rehab, skilled and home care. Returned to private practice in 2006 forming Affiliated Therapy Group Practice, Inc.
Currently serving as President/CEO of AThGP which is a therapist owned private practice which contracts to provide therapy services for a local healthcare system. This contract allows each therapist to practice acute care in the private practice setting which is consistent with the APTA Vision 2020 statement regarding autonomous practice for physical therapists.
Lynn Schauster, PT, DPT
Lynn Schauster PT, DPT, has been a physical therapist since 1992. She graduated from Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri with her Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy and most recently finished her Clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy through Boston University in January 2006. Lynn has been practicing physical therapy in Corpus Christi, Texas with her focus being treating musculoskeletal orthopedic conditions. She is also active in the community including volunteering for the Diabetes and American Heart Association walks and also gives local talks to community organizations on common orthopedic conditions seen in therapy and preventative exercises. She believes in using evidence-based practices when treating clients which includes not only what is published in the literature but also what has achieved the best results in her past experience, and most importantly incorporating what the client's values and beliefs are that will help them achieve improved quality of life.
She currently serves as the Vice President/COO of AThGP focusing on the private practice clinic operations allowing her to treat patients which remains her true passion.
On the personal side, Lynn enjoys vacations around the U.S. to enjoy the outdoor landscape it has to offer as well as exercising to stay healthy and reading John Grisham novels.
Anita Spreen, OT
Anita is attending the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Texas, Anita received a B.S. in Occupational Therapy. She began her practice in the school setting with severely disabled children moving to the hospital to continue treating the orthopedic and neurologically disabled. In 1995, she moved into the private practice setting treating orthopedic injuries of the upper extremities. Anita has worked 25 years as an Occupational Therapist and has been practicing in Corpus Christi since 1983.
Anita recently completed her certification in Complex Decongestive Physiotherapy(CDP) and Manual Lymphatic Drainage(MLD) thru the Upledger Institute, Inc.
Anita has been married to Phil, the most understanding husband, for the past 19 years. They have 2 teenage sons who are active in sports. Anita enjoys golfing, traveling, watching her sons participate in sports and reading.
Margaret A. Arriaga, Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)
Margaret graduated in 1977 from the University of Texas Medical Branch School of Allied Health Sciences/Galveston College with an Associate of Applied Science. She is a dedicated, motivated and skilled PTA with 30 years of healthcare experience and expertise in a variety of settings including acute care in hospital, home health, outpatient musculoskeletal, and outpatient orthopedics. She performs patient treatments under the general supervision of the Physical Therapist. She specializes in orthopedic spine problems, osteoporosis and women's health. She enjoys reading therapy journals and attending continuing education classes to keep up-to-date with current evidence based practices. She belongs to the Sports Medicine, Women's and Geriatric sections of the American Physical Therapy Association. She enjoys educating and improving peoples' quality of life.
She was born and raised in Goliad, Texas. She has been married for 29 years and has 3 sons. She has lived in Corpus Christi, Texas for 29 years. Margaret enjoys camping, hiking, biking, traveling and spending time with her family.
Jose M. Bernal, PTA
A Corpus Christi, Texas native and a 2003 graduate of the Del Mar College Physical Therapist Assistant program. He has worked in Corpus Christi as a PTA for the last three years and is very excited about the opportunity to be associated with this progressive physical therapy team. Jose believes that laughter is the best medicine and likes to use that in his approach in treating patients. Jose enjoys working with all patient demographics, but specializes in orthopedic and sports rehabilitation. He is active in community runs in support of local organizations.
Candace Loosemore-Licensed Massage Therapist
Candace has been a massage therapist for over 2 years. She is proficient in all massage techniques and specializes in treating neck and back problems. She has also had experience in treating women during their pregnancies. She keeps up-to-date with all the advanced techniques including hot stone therapy, wraps and trigger point therapy. She is a native of Corpus Christi and has been married for over 5 years to a Corpus Christi firefighter/paramedic.
Sabas Montelongo-Licensed Massage Therapist
Sabas has been a massage therapist for over 4 years. He was raised in California and has lived in Corpus Christi, Texas for 15 years. He previously worked in a spa setting where he specialized in back, neck, shoulder and pregnancy massages. He is also knowledgeable in body treatments, body wraps and polishes. I have experience in hot stone therapy, trigger point therapy, sports massage and stretching. Since joining Affiliated Therapy Group Practice, he also performs medical massages. His main objective when treating clients is to make them feel 110% better than when they came in. And Sabas... is overall a very nice guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Michele Voight, PTA, BS
Michele Voight is the Practice Administrator for Affiliated Therapy Group Practice. She has been a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant since 1987 working in a variety of settings. In 2000, she graduated with a bachelors of science in education in order to move into the management aspect of the profession while still being in the patient/client environment. Michele is an active member of APTA and has served as the Texas National Assembly Representative and PTA Special Interest Group Chair. In 2002, she was awarded the Joy Davenport PTA of the Year Award for the state of Texas. She currently serves on a national level as an On-Site Evaluator for the Commission of Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education. Michele's current responsibilities at AThGP are Human Resources, marketing, education, and patient/client concerns.
On the personal side, Michele enjoys the outdoors such as long hikes on great scenic trails, walks on the beach and taking in a St. Louis Cardinals baseball game whenever she can.
Kim Kots-Business Office Manager
Kim was born and raised in Iowa and has lived in Corpus Christi, Texas for 23 years. Kim has worked in the business office of several physical therapists during the time she lived here. Most of her experience has been in filing insurance claims and appeals, but is more than happy to help our patients with their other insurance questions. She is currently working on her Associate in Applied Science degree in Accounting at Del Mar College and hopes to graduate in December 2007.
